The Star Micronics TSP143III Bluetooth wireless receipt printer (model number 39472110) comes with auto-connect enabled. This means that after you’ve paired your printer with your iPad, the Bluetooth connection is established automatically every time the printer is switched on and in range of your iPad.
This printer comes with a disk. If you are using it with an Ipad, the disk is useless. The only thing I am disappointed with at this point is that I can not print by business logo on my receipts. This is not a downfall of the printer but the program that I am using. This printer prints the business logo ‘”IF” you are using a Mac or Windows based POS system.
Embracing the mobility wave, Star was the one of the first printer manufacturers to offer Android and iOS SDKs for all of its printers. The complementary SDKs allow end users to use Star printers in tandem with Android, Apple iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone devices to generate receipts.

This printer is fast. Thermal printers print very fast, and the internals are actually much simpler than the ones at my work. You simply open it up, drop the paper inside (yes, it’s a drop in, which makes it much easier to replace the roll once it has run out) and then feed the paper over the top.
Star’s futurePRNT free-of-charge, value added software included with the TSP100 Series far exceeds installation tools normally provided, enabling users to install high volume, custom set-ups. Software tools include Receipt Re-Design Tool, Auto-Text Reversal™, Coupon Marketing Tool, Journal and Multi-Copy Tool and also offers free of charge access to Star Cloud Services including Star’s Digital Receipt Service.

The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

Battery life is poor. I was told by an employee at Star that you can not operate this printer while plugged into AC. You can only use AC to charge the battery and then unplug it. This is a very nice nit and functions well, but you will need extra (expensive) batteries to make through a busy day.
The lightweight SM-S220i is built to handle the stress and bumps of day-to-day use. A belt-clip secures the printer to you or your employees, minimizing the risk of drops. However, the 9-ounce printer can withstand 4-foot drops, so it should hold up to accidents with few issues. A 1-year warranty is standard on the printer, making the Star SM-S220i a smart and reliable mobile printing option.
In addition to its ability to pair with iOS, Android & other popular mobile platforms, the SM-T300i has easy drop in & print paper loading, a quick print speed of 75mm per second, and an intuitive LCD display

I’ve only had it up and running for a couple of weeks now, but it prints and cuts the receipts well and have yet to have any problems with it. Drivers disc makes setting up and installing a snap, and it comes with any/all necessary cables. It even comes with a mount for wall mounting, but in looking at it I’m not sure how you would do that or even why someone might want to 🙂
Cons: The printer stopped working after one week. I tried a new power cable but nothing …. 250$ for nothing !!! Thanks to STAR for this worderfull product. (printer less than the roll they offer in the box, so happy).
Tons of customization settings for specific needs that come with its own program, this has been a huge difference compared to our last which required you to dig around to even have a hope to adjust things
I use this with Square Register on a Samsung Galaxy Note (3 ?). Once it’s set up it plugs right into the USB On The Go adapter, app detects the printer, and I can print my customers their receipt! Very professional looking instead of just a text message or email URL, which many of our customers wouldn’t really know how to use. It seems like a high price to pay for such a small seemingly simple device but so far it appears to be a sturdy, lasting machine. A package of receipt paper lasts a long time. If things fall through it has a high resale value as opposed to some other devices (just check out eBay and Amazon used).
A perfect match for Square Credit Card Processing. The printer arrived as described. Easy setup and user friendly. Printer has a metal case is very heavy duty. One can add a logo to the customer receipts. Arrived as described and within the stated delivery time.

Everything worked exactly as it should, straight out of the box without any problems! It was easy to setup using the StarMicronics LAN & Bluetooth Setup Tool as well as the Configuration Utility TSP100. Once I configured my connection and established my IP address for the printer it was ready to use. Took about 10 – 15 minutes to setup everything. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a receipt printer over IP.
